Paxton Pits has won, or been shortlisted, for several awards, both for its quarrying activity and its nature reserve.

2008: Aggregate Industries' Little Paxton Quarry wins the Wildlife Trusts' Biodiversity Benchmark Award

2007: Two volunteers, Ray Matthews and Matthew Fox, win Cambridgeshire ACRE awards

2007: Chairman of The Friends, Ray Matthews, wins Huntingdonshire District Council Volunteer Award for Impact

2006: Quarry comes top is category for birds and community involvement

2004: Quarry sweeps the board, with Community, Conservation and Bird awards for large quarries in the BTO-Hanson Business Bird Challenge

2004: Quarry shortlisted by the Quarry Products Association. The recognition for Little Paxton Quarry comes as a result of its work in welcoming sand martins as regular visitors. They have even nested in vertical faces in stockpiles within the main plant area. The site team has recognised the importance of managing the species and has worked closely with the RSPB to create a best practice paper which has been widely circulated within the company and beyond. The QPA Showcase 2004 recognises excellence and sustainability across seven key categories; health and safety; restoration; biodiversity and geodiversity; community; heritage; operational best practice and resource conservation. Little Paxton quarry is one of 28 showcased sites.
